UF students can now see who their senators are on Student Government’s updated website.
SG launched a new version of its website Friday, said Rachel Wise, SG’s press secretary. SG paid $44,550 to Parisleaf, a branding agency based in Gainesville, for the website updates. SG started working on the new website in June.
She said the plan to update the website began during former UF Student Body President Cory Yeffet’s term.
The last time the website was fully updated was in 1990, she said. While it’s been updated throughout the years, this is the first time since then the whole website was updated.
The new website will allow those who aren’t in SG to use it, she said.
“We wanted to update it so it’s easier to find everything,” Wise said.
On the website, users can now find pictures of their senators for their college, year or district.
A graphic also details SG’s chain of command and structure.
The website can also be viewed on mobile devices, Wise said.
Evan Cartagena, 21, said he doesn’t think the website’s update will change voter turnout.
The UF economics and political science senior said he thinks the website’s update will help students understand SG more, but he doesn’t think a lot of change will come out of it.
“I don’t think people are going to start giving a crap,” he said. “It’s the way things are.”
