Two Florida basketball players took home honors from the Southeastern Conference on Tuesday.
Forward Dorian Finney-Smith was named to the All-SEC Second Team and guard KeVaughn Allen was named to the All-SEC Freshman Team.
The award marked Finney-Smith’s second consecutive year as a member of the conference’s second team, while Allen’s award gave Florida its eighth All-SEC freshman player in the last nine years.
Finney-Smith, a 6-foot-8 redshirt senior, was Florida’s veteran presence and leading scorer and rebounder this season. He averaged 15.0 points and 8.2 rebounds per game while leading the Gators in three-pointers made (62).
Meanwhile, Allen was UF’s most electric offensive weapon both before and during conference play. The freshman averaged 11.5 points per game, including a season-high 32-points against Florida State on Dec. 29, making him the first Florida player to score at least 30 points in a game since Michael Frazier II had 37 against South Carolina on March 4, 2014.
Allen finished third on the team in made field goals (114) while shooting 40.3 percent from the field.
Allen and Finney-Smith will lead No. 8-seed Florida when it begins the SEC Tournament on Thursday. UF will face No. 9-seed Arkansas at 1 p.m. in Nashville.
