Students waited in a line that wrapped around the Stephen C. O’Connell Center on Tuesday morning.
The line was for high-demand tickets to the Hunter Hayes and Cassadee Pope performance at the O’Connell Center on March 16.
Students began lining up outside of the building about five hours before the ticket office opened at 10 a.m. on the first of two days of distribution.
Jessica Giles, 18, is a long-time fan of Hayes.
She headed to the O’Connell Center early in hopes of snagging a good seat.
“I’m hoping I’m really close,” the UF journalism freshman said. “I want to be able to see him really well.”
Giles said she’s expecting the concert to be one to remember.
“He’s a really good performer,” Giles said. “He has a lot of energy.”
For Melissa Ray, 22, going to an O’Connell Center concert is something to check off her college bucket list.
She got in line at 8:30 a.m. and waited for about 2 hours.
“I’ve never been to a concert in the O’Connell Center, so I figured it was one of those things I really wanted to do before I graduated,” the UF health science senior said.
Ray said she’s looking forward to Hayes’ soulful sound. She said she wants to be part of the experience and the atmosphere of such a large concert.
“It’s always a lot of fun; good vibes,” Ray said.
