Police arrested a St. Cloud man early Saturday morning after authorities said he attacked an officer.
At about 1:40 a.m. Saturday, a Gainesville Police officer found Ethan Alexander Wilson, 21, unconscious on Northwest Eighth Avenue, according to a police report.
Wilson lay on his back at the end of a driveway. Half his body was in the road next to his broken cellphone, according to the report.
The officer parked behind Wilson and turned on his emergency lights, according to the report. Wilson – whom the officer described as extremely intoxicated – woke up and cursed at the officer before walking into the road.
The officer grabbed Wilson, who then hugged the officer tightly and tried to punch him several times, according to the report.
The officer tackled and hit Wilson before holding him on the ground, according to the report.
Three more officers soon arrived to help handcuff and arrest Wilson as he continued to resist.
Later, Wilson told police he didn’t know where he was or why he was in Gainesville, according to the report.
Police arrested Wilson on charges of battery on an officer, resisting an officer with violence and resisting an officer without violence. He was taken to the Alachua County Jail where he was released on his own recognizance Sunday.
