Police arrested a Gainesville woman Friday evening after they said she stole prescription pills from a man at Walgreens.

At about 4 p.m. Friday, Sarah Burge Weaver, 40, stole $180 worth of drugs that treat seizures, panic disorders and depression from an unsuspecting customer, according to a police report.

The man purchased Clonazepam and Fluoxetine at the Walgreens on Northwest 43rd Street and momentarily left his bag on a counter, the report states.

Weaver then grabbed the bag of drugs and walked away, according to the report.

When a Walgreens employee called Weaver and asked her to return the drugs, she came back and only returned the Clonazepam, according to the report.

The incident was captured on a surveillance camera, the report states.

Police then drove to Weaver’s home, where she denied stealing any pills. Weaver also said the Walgreens cashier put the drugs in her bag by mistake, according to the report.

When police asked Weaver why she left the store with an extra bag, she said that was also a mistake, the report states.

Weaver was arrested on charges of grand theft of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance and petit theft. Police took her to the Alachua County Jail where she was released Saturday on her own recognizance.
