Gainesville Police arrested a local woman and man Sunday morning after police said they tried to break into a home to have sex.

At about 6:40 a.m. Sunday, Carise Duncan, 24, and John Thomas, 18, tried to enter the house through its back window and door, GPD spokesman Officer Ben Tobias wrote in an email.

The duo wanted to use what they believed was a vacant house to have sex, but the owners heard the attempted entry, hid in the bathroom and called the police, according to the email.

An officer saw Duncan walk from the porch and thought she was the caller, but then he saw Thomas crouched on the porch, according to a police report.

The officer handcuffed Duncan and tackled her after she tried to escape. She relaxed and they walked toward a police car when she broke free, still in handcuffs, and ran 50 feet before the officer tackled her again, according to the report.

Once inside the car, Duncan kicked the window until an officer tried to restrain her legs. She then kicked him in the face.

Duncan has open charges for trespassing and resisting an officer from September, according to Alachua County court records.

Thomas could not be reached for comment.

Police arrested Duncan and Thomas on charges of trespassing. Duncan also received two charges of resisting an officer and one for battery.

Authorities took them to the Alachua County Jail where, as of press time, Duncan remains in lieu of a $30,000 bond. Thomas was released Sunday afternoon on his own recognizance.
