Gainesville Police arrested two local men Saturday afternoon after police said they attacked a man outside his home and tried to escape.

At about 11:45 a.m. Saturday, William B. Hernandez, 18, and Cody M. Hill, 22, drove to confront the father of Hernandez’s girlfriend, according to a police report.

After finding the man outside his home in the 6500 block of Northwest 25th Terrace, Hill jumped through the air and kicked the man in his chest, according to the report.

The man overpowered Hill for a moment, but Hill and Hernandez then pushed him around and paused only to pick up weapons, according to the report.

Hernandez, armed with a concrete brick, and Hill, armed with a metal pry bar, walked toward the man and threatened to hurt him. Hernandez’s girlfriend then stepped in front of her father and stopped the fight, according to the report.

Police arrested the men about three hours later after a witness reported the license plate number on their getaway car, according to the report.

Police arrested Hernandez and Hill on charges for aggravated assault, and Hill received an additional charge for battery. Authorities took the men to the Alachua County Jail where, as of press time, they both remain in lieu of $20,000 bonds.
