Support a living wage today
The idea that individuals who work full-time in 2015 are living below the poverty line and unable to make ends meet is simply unfathomable, but that’s the unfortunate reality for many workers, especially those part of the service industry.
While profits for corporations steadily increase along with the salaries of CEOs, workers see their labor continually devalued in stagnant wages that don’t reflect inflation and the cost of living. Whether it’s a McDonald’s employee or a grad student dealing with exorbitant fees, the reality for many workers is grim, with many sacrificing essentials like eating or being unable to care for their children. Let’s not allow this to continue unchecked.
Join the Gainesville community and workers ranging from fast-food workers to adjunct professors in the fight for a living wage in a nationwide day of action as a part of the Fight for 15 campaign. The action will take place today at 4:30 p.m. at the corner of 13th Street and University Avenue. Please come out and support the right for every working person to live in dignity!
