Attorney and UF alumnus John Morgan is for the people — and UF students.

Morgan, who founded the law firm Morgan & Morgan and uses the slogan "for the people" in his commercials, will speak to students today in Heavener Hall, Room 140 at 6:15 p.m. The event is hosted by UF’s Entrepreneurship Club.

Erick Rodriguez, president of the Entrepreneurship Club at UF, said the club brings a new businessperson to speak at UF every two weeks.

He said the club reached out to Morgan because he is based in Orlando and is a successful businessman.

"He knows marketing well, especially to a large scale," the 21-year-old business administration senior said. "So he’ll be talking about how to run a large business."

There are more than 260 attorneys working for his firm, and there are about 25 offices located around the country, Rodriguez said.

Aniruddh Ravindran, 23, executive vice president of the Entrepreneurship Club at UF, said Morgan, like the other speakers the club has brought this year, is not being paid to come.

"Quite a lot of them do not deny our request even if they’re not paid because they love to interact with students and encourage more entrepreneurship," the UF biomedical engineering graduate student said.

UF finance junior Harold Shaw said he’s looking forward to the event.

"I want to see how Morgan & Morgan was started and how they’ve grown into a multimillion-dollar law firm," the 20-year-old said.
