The Harn Museum of Art is not much older than most of UF’s students.
The museum is hosting "25 Candles" on Friday to celebrate its 25th birthday.
The celebration will begin at 6:30 p.m. with dinner, followed by a cocktail hour and after-party.
"It’s a celebration of what they’ve accomplished," said LeAnne Gorris, 22, a UF marketing senior and Harn Museum intern. "They’ve come so far in creating and establishing a successful art museum that’s for the students as well."
Dinner tickets have sold out, but tickets to the cocktail hour and after-party are available on the Harn’s website. Cocktail hour tickets are $250 for two or $125 for one. After-party tickets are $50 for two, $25 for one or $20 for UF students.
UF a cappella group No Southern Accent and DJ Jarad Bowens will perform at the after-party, said Tami Wroath, director of marketing and public relations at the Harn. There will be fireworks at dusk.
"It’s going to be a fabulous time, and in addition to that, you’ll be supporting your community and campus art museum," she said.
Ticket sales from events like this make it possible for the museum to offer free admission, Wroath said.
The Harn’s anniversary exhibition, "Conversations," will feature art gifted to the museum and will open Friday night, Wroath said.
"We want to make sure people are including art in their life," she said.
