Gainesville Police arrested a local woman early Wednesday morning after she reportedly threw rocks through the window of her mother’s apartment.
About 2:15 a.m. Wednesday, Jessica Harwell, 33, reportedly threw rocks up to 6 inches long through her mother’s bedroom window, according to a police report.
Charles Simpson, 35, who is dating Harwell’s sister, said he was visiting the home and didn’t know if someone was trying to prank or kill them.
"I didn’t know what was going on at first," he said. "I thought somebody was playing or something."
Simpson and the mother went outside and saw Harwell, who first ran away before returning to slap Simpson’s face, he said.
Harwell reportedly said her mother owed her $170.
She reportedly struggled with police while being handcuffed and searched. She then removed the handcuffs in the police car and resisted again when officers tried to replace them. An officer asked for her name, to which Harwell replied, "F--- you," according to police reports. Police later found a small bag lined with cocaine residue while searching Harwell at the jail, according to the report.
Police arrested Harwell on charges of throwing a deadly missile, smuggling contraband into a detention facility and resisting an officer, along with escape, battery, possession of cocaine and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Authorities took her to the Alachua County Jail where, as of press time, she remains without bond.
