Outback Steakhouse restaurant is staying true to their slogan and keeping things fresh with a new location.
While the new Archer Road building is within walking distance of its former location in Butler Plaza, the restaurant will open the doors to a new, redesigned "modern Australian" building.
"We’re moving to the new site because it’s an opportunity to build on a more contemporary design," said Crafton Bryant, the marketing manager for new restaurant openings at Bloomin’ Brands, the company that owns Outback Steakhouse and other restaurant chains.
With the new building, Bryant said, Outback will have more visibility to Archer and the guests coming from the Interstate.
"It’s an enhancement to the old Outback," he said. "A new Outback experience with the same great food."
Courtney Friedman, 21, has spent her birthday each year at various Outback restaurants as part of a family tradition.
Though she was disappointed by the increased distance, she said she will still visit the restaurant.
"Every location feels like home to me," the accounting senior said. "I have such great memories there with family and friends, and I will be stopping by sometime soon."
While the grand opening Wednesday will feature a ribbon-cutting and event for the Gainesville Chamber of Commerce, the restaurant will also be giving back.
From 11 a.m. until 10 p.m., proceeds from sales will benefit the Alachua County Boys and Girls Club.
"We’re very excited," said Scott Monnett, chief professional officer of Alachua County Boys and Girls Club.
"It’s a great opportunity for an established business in our community through their grand opening and their new location," he said.
"They’re giving back to our organization and to the lives of our youth -- that’s the extra added bonus," Monnett said.
Outback Steakhouse will open its new building at 3770 SW Archer Road on Wednesday.
