“Hotline Bling” and “Right Hand” by Drake
Released July 31 — Drizzy dropped two new singles on Spotify, and fans of singing emotional Drake will love “Hotline Bling.” “Right Hand” shows more of his hard-hitting and serious side.
It’s worth noting that “Back to Back” and “Charged Up” are on the music streaming service as well. Which raises the question, how many quality songs is OVO just sitting on?
“Stare” by Prince
Released July 28 —Prince has been pulling his music off of Spotify and most streaming services, but he exclusively released his new single “Stare” on Spotify.
The song is as funky as you would expect from Prince, and it’s a great listen. Prince is insanely talented and the single does a great job of showing his confidence and capabilities. Really, it’s just a fun song to listen to.
“Nothing Left” by Kygo ft. Will Heard
Released July 31 — Kygo gained attention by separating himself in the dance music scene with his tropical house sound and shows that he’s not afraid to continue separating himself.
“Nothing Left” could even be called an easy-listening song. Will Heard’s vocals do a great job of aiding this soothing sound, while the beat achieves sounding relaxed without being overly simple.
“All For You” by Fairground Saints
Released July 31 — The country-pop group’s song begins slowly and seems very much like a cliché summer love song. It finally reveals itself on the first chorus, where you’ll realize it’s so much more. The up-and-down pace of the duet is accented by clever instrumentation and progression, and the peak of the song is incredible. This may be the best song on this list. “It’s all for you.”
“Gold Steps” by Neck Deep
Released July 20 — The U.K. pop-punk band released “Gold Steps” as a single off of their second LP, “Life’s Not out to Get You.” Based on a progression of their sound and lyrical content alone, the song is fantastic.
