The Gators have granted redshirt sophomore defensive tackle Jay-nard Bostwick his release from the football program.
Bostwick missed Spring practice with what new Florida head coach Jim McElwain described as personal issues.
The Port St. Lucie native appeared in five games for UF in 2014, registering three tackles including one in Florida’s 28-20 Birmingham Bowl victory over East Carolina.
Bostwick was one of three Gators suspended for the first game of last season by former UF head coach Will Muschamp for a violation of team rules.
Following his commitment to the Gators, former UF defensive backs coach Travaris Robinson said that Bostwick was “a tremendous player”.
“He is really talented,” Robinson said. “He’s got a great, great family who is supportive of him and wants him to do well.”
Bostwick is free to transfer to another school.
