Co-founder of Grooveshark found dead in home

The co-founder of Grooveshark Music was found dead Sunday evening.

Shortly after 9 p.m., the girlfriend of Josh Greenberg found the 28-year-old dead in bed at his home, located at 2005 NW 27th St., Gainesville Police Officer Ben Tobias wrote in an email.

What was originally a medical call turned into a death investigation, Tobias said.

However, neither the investigators nor the medical examiner — who performed an autopsy on Monday — suspect any foul play.

Tobias said it appeared as though Greenberg died a few hours before he was found.

The investigation is ongoing as police wait for the toxicology reports.

In November 2013, Eddy Vasquez, the director of international sales at Grooveshark, was shot twice in the stomach and killed in St. Petersburg, according to a police report. The shooter, Andres Rodriguez Torres, was charged with second degree murder.

Grooveshark faced a slew of lawsuits in recent years and ultimately shut down earlier this year. Multiple record companies sued the company for copyright violations.
