Jackson Scott is bringing his band to Gainesville for the first time, and the psychedelic power trio plans to elicit all kinds of audience reactions.
“Sometimes we just like to mess with the crowd,” Scott said. “You know, really make them think about things and make the ticket worth their while.”
The indie psych-pop band, consisting of lead singer and guitarist Jackson Scott, drummer Aaron Kostial and bassist Chase Gorter, will perform Wednesday at the High Dive, located at 210 SW Second Ave.
Doors will open at 9 p.m. and tickets can be purchased in advance for $7 on www.ticketweb.com.
The Asheville-based trio will be reaching parts of Florida for the first time on this tour. Pat Lavery, owner of Glory Days Presents, said recent shows from similar bands have garnered popularity at the High Dive.
“So Gainesville should be excited to see this show,” Lavery said.
Fans can expect to hear songs from the band’s latest release, “Sunshine Redux,” as well as tracks from their 2013 release, “Melbourne.”
Scott said his style is a combination of genres, ranging from ‘60s and ‘90s rock to contemporary rap.
“I really like all kinds of different stuff, and I try to put all the stuff that I like into the music,” Scott said. “It could be really heavy. Sometimes it could be kind of, just, really out there.”
The performer described his ideal show as having a symbiotic effect, with both the band and the crowd feeding off one another’s energy.
“Ideally, the energy is completely, all like, totally fluid with the crowd and us, the act,” Scott said. “Then it just becomes, kind of, this giant orgasm of sound.”
