Brianna Morgan awaits a serve during Florida's 4-0 win against Maryland on Jan. 25 at the Ring Tennis Complex. Morgan defeated Georgia Tech's Kendal Woodard, 6-2, 6-3 at the No. 3 position on Saturday to help the Gators advance to the NCAA Tournament Round of 16.

The No. 5 Gators women’s tennis team made quick work of No. 24 Georgia Tech on Saturday afternoon, defeating the Yellow Jackets 4-0 at the Ring Tennis Complex in the second round of the NCAA Tournament.

Freshman Josie Kuhlman secured her second-straight NCAA singles victory with a 6-3, 6-2 defeat of Georgia Tech’s Rasheeda McAdoo. The Ponte Vedra native helped Florida sweep GT in doubles play, winning 8-2 on the No. 2 court with sophomore partner Belinda Woolcock.

“I think we are all pretty confident,” Kuhlman said. “We want to go far, as we’re in it for that championship.”

Saturday’s match marked the final home match of the season for the Gators – but the team had no seniors on the roster to honor.

Coach Roland Thornqvist will return all eight members of the team, with Brianna Morgan being the lone senior on next season’s team.

“It’s really interesting, with a young team of basically freshmen and sophomores you really need to have a pulse on the team,” Thornqvist said. “These guys always had great attitudes and wanted to come out and play.”

Florida will head to Waco, Texas, to take on the winner of a second round match between No. 27 Arizona St. and the victor of the first round match between No. 12 Oklahoma St. and Boston University on Friday at 5 p.m. at Baylor’s Hurd Tennis Center.
