The University of Florida men’s golf team is tied for fourth place entering the final round of the NCAA Chapel Hill Regional in Chapel Hill, North Carolina.
The Gators are 3-under par for the tournament, eight strokes off of the leading Stanford Cardinal team.
The Gators are two strokes ahead of the projected cutoff for the NCAA Championship in Bradenton. The five teams with the lowest scores after Saturday’s final round will advance to the NCAA Championship.
Senior Eric Banks was the only Gator to improve on his first-round score, shooting an even par 72 in Round 2. However, he is 6-over par for the tournament, tied for 60th.
Junior A.J. Crouch also shot even par in the second round and is tied for sixth place at 3-under par.
Senior J.D. Tomlinson is currently tied for 13th at 1-under par for the tournament while freshman Ryan Celano is at even par and shares 22nd position.
Sophomore Ryan Orr is at 6-over par along for the tournament along with Banks.
“It’s a huge day, and you can’t ignore that,” coach JC Deacon said in a release about Round 3. “It’s a big day, and it’s why we work hard. It’s why we get up early in the morning all year long and spend those late nights at the golf course. It’s why we practice and put all this time in so we’re ready for days like tomorrow.”
