Gainesville Police arrested a former UF athlete early Sunday after he reportedly punched a bouncer at a local night club.

At about 1:20 a.m. outside of a Simon's Night Club, at 8 S. Main St., Omar Dasean Craddock, 23, was denied entry to the club after he caused a disturbance, according to a police report.

After being denied entry, the former track and field star argued with the bouncer before punching him multiple times in the face and head, according to the report. The fight left the bouncer with a 2-inch cut on his forehead, which was bleeding heavily and required stitches.

Officers arrested Craddock on one charge of felony battery and one charge of resisting an officer without violence. Police took him to the Alachua County Jail where he remained as of press time in lieu of a $17,500 bond.

Craddock ended his UF career as one of the most decorated athletes in program history.

During his four years competing for UF from 2010 to 2013, the Gators won five national titles.

Craddock finished first in the triple jump at the NCAA Championships during three of UF's five title runs and never finished below seventh during his seven total appearances at the national meet.

Craddock won the triple jump title in the 2013 U.S. Outdoor Track and Field Championships after jumping 17.15 meters to top the 16-man field and finished 18th in the qualifying round of the 2013 World Championships in Moscow while representing the United States.

He won the triple jump (16.70 meters) and finished second in the long jump (7.60 meters) at the UF-hosted Florida Relays in Gainesville this weekend.
