The No. 3 Florida (13-1, 5-0 Southeastern Conference) women’s tennis team kept its road winning streak alive in its matchup against the Missouri Tigers (8-9, 0-5 SEC) Sunday afternoon at the Mizzou Tennis Center.

The Gators defeated the Tigers for the second consecutive year—Florida clinched the win last year also with a 7-0 sweep, improving to 3-0 all-time against Missouri.

The duo of No. 22-ranked Josie Kuhlman and Peggy Porter set the tone early, picking up their second consecutive conference victory in the third spot for doubles by defeating the Mizzou pairing of Kelli Hine and Madison Rhyner, 8-2.

No. 4-ranked duo Brooke Austin and Kourtney Keegan clinched the doubles point after defeating Brittany Lashway and Cassidy Spearman with a score of 8-3.

The Gators clinched the doubles point for the fourth time in the team’s last five competitions.

“We were fantastic in doubles. We played with great emotion and attacked right away. Missouri started out strong in singles, but once we settled down, I thought we extended the rallies in most of the singles matches, which helped turn the tide in our favor,” Thornqvist said in a release.

In singles play, the team closed out six straight matches after falling behind in a few of the first sets.

The two unstoppable Gators — junior Brianna Morgan and sophomore Belinda Woolcock — both have not dropped a set in their last four singles matches.

Morgan defeated her opponent, Beatriz Machado Santos, 6-4, 6-4 and Woolcock topped Mizzou’s Lashway, 6-3, 6-2.

The Gators have a five day break before they return to SEC action.

The Gators closed out its three-match road swing and return back home to face off with No. 16 Ole Miss on Friday at 5 p.m. and No. 41 Mississippi State Bulldogs on Sunday at 1 p.m.
