Baseball

Record: 23-6, 5-4 Southeastern Conference

Last Time out: No. 4 Florida clinched its three-game series with the Alabama Crimson Tide by winning 7-4 on Saturday at McKethan Stadium.

Who’s Hot: The Freshmen

The Gators have started at least three freshmen in every game this season, and five have started at least eight games. Dalton Guthrie, Mike Rivera and JJ Schwarz have at least a .305 batting average, while Schwarz is also second on the team in home runs (five) and RBIs (27). First baseman Jeremy Vasquez, who missed the first 16 games of the season with a finger injury, has flourished as of late.

Who’s Not: The Pitchers

Pitching has been Florida’s Achilles’ heel in the last couple weeks. Two weeks ago, it was the starters, who gave up 13 runs in four games compared to eight from relief pitchers. But that turned on its head this week, with relief pitchers surrendering 16 runs in 14.1 innings of work compared to seven runs in 22.2 frames from the starters.

What’s Next: Florida travels to Jacksonville to face No. 10 Florida State (22-7) on Tuesday. The Gators won the first game against the Seminoles this year 14-8 on March 17.

Who’s Hot: Bridget Sloan

The junior has now recorded perfect 10s on bars in each of her last two competitions — the only event in which she had not scored a perfect mark in her career prior to three weeks ago. She also recorded a 9.925 on vault and a 9.950 on beam in the SEC Championships.

Who’s Not: The Freshmen

Ericha Fassbender and Alex McMurtry both suffered falls on beam in the SEC Championships, costing the Gators a chance at the conference title. And while Kennedy Baker had a solid performance (9.900 on vault, 9.850 on bars and 9.950 on floor), it was the first time she had a score in the 9.9s in nearly a month.

What’s Next: UF travels to Morgantown, West Virginia, for its NCAA Regional on Saturday. Florida will compete against No. 11 Stanford, No. 14 Illinois-Champaign, No. 19 Arkansas, No. 25 New Hampshire and No. 36 West Virginia.

Lacrosse

Record: 8-4, 2-0 Big East

Last Time Out: No. 10 Florida traveled to Philadelphia on Saturday and defeated Temple 17-3. The Gators improved to 2-0 in conference play and have now won two in a row after falling in three straight games.

Who’s Hot: Shannon Gilroy

The senior midfielder continues to make her case for being the nation’s best player week after week. Gilroy scored a team-high four goals in the win over Temple, increasing her season total to 43 — the second most in the country.

Who’s Not: Nicole Graziano

An ACL injury kept Graziano sidelined for most of 2014. She had an encouraging start to this season but has since gone cold. Graziano has come off of the bench in Florida’s last three games, totaling just one goal and one assist in those contests. She’s one of the Gators’ veteran offensive players, but right now she finds herself in a bit of a rut.

What’s Next: Florida returns home and hosts Georgetown (2-7, 1-0 Big East) on Saturday as conference play continues. With a full week of practice ahead and the struggling Hoyas coming to town, the Gators will look to maintain their position atop the Big East and among the nation’s top teams.

Kelsey Stewart is being Kelsey Stewart. The Wichita, Kansas, native is hitting over .400 on the season and leads the team in at-bats, hits, runs, doubles, triples and stolen bases. Stewart went 6-for-11 in the three games against the Bulldogs and reached base five times on Saturday.

Who’s Not: Delanie Gourley

If you had to pick one player on a team that’s won 32 games and only lost four, it might have to be pitcher Delanie Gourley. Gourley has struggled in the last couple of times she’s started in the circle for Florida as she allowed nine earned runs in her last two starts.

What’s Next: Florida will have its first home game since March 15 and quick break from conference play when they take on in state opponent North Florida (21-18) on Wednesday.

Who’s Not: Everyone else

After a string of four top-five finishes for the team the Gators have finished their last two tournaments in seventh and 12th positions, slowly making a fall down the leaderboard. In the last two tournaments, Tomlinson and sophomore Ryan Orr are the only golfers who have finished under-par.

What’s Next: The Gators will return to action April 6 after Easter weekend in the Old Waverly Collegiate Championship. Last season, the Gators finished fourth in this tournament, led by top-20 finishes from Tomlinson and senior Eric Banks. This tournament will be the last regular season event for the team as they prepare for the SEC Championships and the postseason.

Who’s Not: Belinda Woolcock

While the sophomore has been relatively consistent in doubles play with Spencer Liang, she has dropped three of her last four singles matches on the No. 4 court.
