Two Gator gymnasts were given top Southeastern Conference honors, the league office announced Thursday.
Senior Kytra Hunter was named SEC Gymnast of the Year, becoming the third Gator to win the award and first since Chrissy Van Fleet in 2000.
Freshman Kennedy Baker was also named co-SEC Freshman of the Year along with Arkansas’ Paige Zaziski. Baker is the eighth Gator to win the award and fifth since 2010.
Hunter is the top all-around gymnast in the nation with a 39.625 regional qualifying score and is the only gymnast ranked in the top-25 in all five events (No. 1 all-around, No. 2 in floor and vault, tied for No. 17 on bars and tied for No. 22 on beam).
She has also been the SEC Gymnast of the Week four times this season.
Baker was named SEC Freshman of the Week four times this season and ranks eighth nationally with a 9.935 RQS on floor.
Both were also named to the All-SEC team along with fellow Gators Bridget Sloan, Alex McMurtry, Bridgette Caquatto and Claire Boyce.
The All-SEC team is determined by performance in the SEC Championships.
