Mark Frantz is excited to see the empty space next to his store filled.
Two new tenants — one specializing in home goods and the other in children’s clothing — are moving into Butler Plaza while another is relocating.
“Any store that goes in there is going to help business in this complex — more foot traffic,” said Frantz, the manager at PetSmart in Butler Plaza.
Tuesday Morning will open at 3728 SW Archer Road, in between PetSmart and Trader Joe’s, while Carter’s will take over the old PacSun location between Target and Old Navy.
Outback Steakhouse, now located in the shopping center near Walmart, will be moving into a new freestanding building on the corner of Archer Road and Southwest 37th Boulevard, according to a press release.
Construction on the new Outback building will start this month, and the move will happen later this year.
Additional changes are expected as Butler Plaza progresses through an expansion project that will create two new shopping and dining centers, Butler Plaza North and Butler Town Center.
Carter’s, featuring children’s clothes, is expected to open on March 5, consumer affairs representative Nora Kelly wrote in an email.
“There was a big demand for a children’s clothing store in our region,” Deborah Butler, president of Butler Enterprises, wrote in an email. “They were the obvious choice to bring to Gainesville.”
Tuesday Morning will offer bath products and home merchandise.
It should be open later this spring, Butler said. She did not have an exact opening date. It has another Gainesville location at 3842 W. Newberry Road.
Both stores are currently under construction.
