Gainesville Police arrested a man Sunday who officers say had seven bags of methamphetamines and falsely identified himself to police.
Theophilus Lynum, 23, was stopped by officers at 3200 SW 26th Way for running a stop sign at about 6:30 p.m., according to a report. When police asked him for identification, Lynum said he was Carl Eugene Davis. Lynum insisted he was Davis, but forearm tattoos reading “Theo” and “Lynum” suggested otherwise.
When searched, police found the seven bags of meth in Lynum’s pants, a report said. Officers discovered that Lynum’s driver’s license had been suspended seven times and revoked. Lynum is also wanted for driving with a revoked license and for fraud.
Kendarruis Lamar, an 18-year-old Micanopy man who was also in the car, was arrested for associating with Lynum and violating his probation, a report said.
Lynum was arrested on charges of drug possession with intent to sell within a thousand feet of a park, knowingly driving with a revoked license and falsely identifying himself to police as well as probation violation. As of press time, he was being held in lieu of a $19,000 bond.
