The award-winning reggae band Tribal Seeds will bring its San Diego vibes to Gainesville this weekend.

Tribal Seeds, along with Ballyhoo! and Beyond I Sight, will play at High Dive downtown on Sunday. Doors open at 8 p.m., and tickets are $17 for those over 21 and $20 for everyone younger.

Tribal Seeds started with two brothers, Steven Rene Jacobo and Tony-Ray “T-Ray” Jacobo, in 2005. The now six-member group has shared a stage with well-known artists, such as the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Dave Matthews Band, Rebelution, Sublime with Rome, The Wailers and Jane’s Addiction, according to the band’s website.

“We’re just a bunch of laid-back, mellow guys,” said T-Ray, the keyboardist, vocalist and producer of Tribal Seeds.

The band members from Tribal Seeds and Ballyhoo! have known each other for a long time, T-Ray said. Ryan “Gonzo” Gonzales in Beyond I Sight is also the drummer for Tribal Seeds.

After cruising through four states within the week, Tribal Seeds is looking forward to crossing into the Sunshine State. T-Ray said the band has drawn in great crowds from Florida, and last year’s performance at the High Dive on Oct. 30 was nearly a sellout.

“High Dive is a great little spot,” he said. “We’re gonna give you guys a great show.”
