In a season where the Gators have been relatively healthy, Florida lost two key defensive players, Will Muschamp announced Monday.

Redshirt senior Neiron Ball and sophomore Jarrad Davis both had meniscus surgery and will be out for the season.

"Extremely disappointed for both those guys," Muschamp said. "Both (were) having great years, and certainly (want to) get those guys rehabbed as quickly as possible."

Through nine games, Ball had 49 tackles, which was tied with Dante Fowler Jr. for second on the team.

Ball’s five quarterback hurries lead all of Florida’s linebackers.

Davis started the year on special teams and received more playing time as the season progressed.

Prior to being injured on the opening kickoff of Florida’s 23-20 overtime loss to South Carolina on Saturday, Davis had 23 tackles — one of which was for loss — and three quarterback hurries.
