A Gainesville man was arrested Wednesday afternoon after police said he broke into an occupied home and made out with $60 in cash and a bar of soap.

Using an unlocked door, 46-year-old Charles Allen Green broke into Keith Scott Pariseau’s home. Pariseau was in his living room at the time and told police he could hear Green come in at about 12:40 p.m., according to a report.

Pariseau confronted Green in the kitchen and told him to leave. Green refused and walked toward Pariseau — causing Pariseau to back into a corner. He told police he was afraid of Green’s size and thought Green might hurt him if he intervened.

Green walked into Pariseau’s bathroom and used Pariseau’s soap to wash his face. He then snatched the soap, walked back to the living room, grabbed $60 in cash that was lying on the coffee table and left the house on foot — leaving behind a black jacket.

Police found Green a couple blocks away from Pariseau’s home. As Green was being searched, police found Pariseau’s bar of soap on his person.

Green was arrested on a felony charge of unarmed home invasion. His bond is currently set at $50,000.
