A Gainesville man was arrested Sunday night after police said a tube of crack fell from his pants.

Jake C. Young, 23, was pulled over shortly before 8 p.m. for failing to stop before entering a roadway at 1300 E. University Ave. He had a suspended driver’s license and police said he smelled of marijuana.

Officers had Young get out of the car to conduct a search when police said a plastic cigar tube filled with 30 crack rocks fell from between his buttcheeks and down his pants.

Young was arrested on charges of possession of crack-cocaine with intent to sell and drug paraphernalia. His bond is set at $17,500.

♣♣♣

A man ordered a hotdog and a slush drink from the 39th Avenue Sonic on Sunday afternoon, police said, but was arrested when he drove away drunk without picking up the greasy grub he paid for.

Police received a phone call from a Sonic employee that afternoon who reported 38-year-old Matthew Aaron Reddish was acting strangely at the fast-food joint around 5:30 p.m.

Officers caught up with Reddish — who lives in Waldo — in the Publix parking lot at 3720 NW 13th St. Police said even though Reddish’s breath smelled strongly of chewing tobacco, they were still able to smell alcohol while standing out in the open air. Reddish had bloodshot, watery eyes and slurred speech.

He performed poorly on field sobriety exercises and refused to give a breath sample.

Reddish was arrested on charges of driving under the influence and refusing to give a sobriety test. He was released shortly before 1 p.m. Monday on his own recognizance.
