UF Student Government was chosen for the first time to host the annual Southeastern Conference Exchange in July 2016.

The SEC Exchange weekend provides opportunities for SG executive boards to come together to discuss ideas to improve campus life, said Brandon Krumins, executive secretary of communications for SG.

The 14 SEC schools voted during the last SEC Exchange at Auburn University to make UF the 2016 SEC Exchange location.

“It’s a chance for all the SEC schools to come together for a weekend to learn from each other and to improve their schools by collaborating with each other,” Krumins said.

UF Student Body President Cory Yeffet said UF wanted to host the 2016 conference because the Reitz Union would be finished with construction.

“We’re really excited to host a conference that will showcase our university to the other 13 SEC schools,” he said.

The conference will help generate ideas to make SG more efficient and transparent, Yeffet said.

“I think that it will benefit the University of Florida’s Student Government and allow us to improve our Student Government and connect with other schools,”  Yeffet said.
