Alumni can get up and give all throughout the week as part of an annual Homecoming tradition.
For its fourth year, the Get Up and Give campaign is once again urging alumni to donate to UF’s campus-wide projects.
Alumni can donate to more than 20 projects hosted by each college until Friday.
“It’s a nice way for alumni to look back to Homecoming in the past while helping UF in the future,” said Heather Duiser, associate director of Annual Giving at the UF Foundation.
Whether it’s donating to graduate school scholarships for the College of Education or a mission trip to Mexico for the College of Nursing, alumni have the opportunity to give money to causes they want to support.
“Alumni are able to pick what they’re passionate about, and that’s what we want them to donate to,” Duiser said.
Last year, Get Up and Give raised more than $60,000.
About 80 percent of the university’s budget comes from private donations, whether it’s from alumni or corporations, Duiser said.
The projects that received the most donations last year included the Machen Florida Opportunity Scholars Program, the Alumni Association Membership Drive and Dance Marathon at UF.
“Get Up and Give is an incredible initiative on behalf of the University of Florida to engage all alumni, and we are proud to partner with them to continue to raise funds and awareness ‘For the Kids,’” said Taylor Chambers, the overall director of Dance Marathon at UF.
UF’s social media accounts will be posting about the campaign using the hashtag #GetUpAndGiveUF.
