Mummies, zombies, ghosts and ghouls will haunt the halls of the Reitz Union tonight during GatorNights’ Haunted Horror Reitz event.
GatorNights staff will host free Halloween events for students starting at 8 p.m.
Maggie Sutton, a graduate assistant for GatorNights, said Simplified Entertainment was hired to set up a professionally built haunted house.
“It’s really going to be a creepier and more terrifying experience,” the 22-year-old said.
Last year’s Halloween event tallied up about 1,000 students, and Sutton said she expects that number to double for tonight’s event.
Pro Psychic Readings, a local psychic medium, will provide students with palm readings and fortune telling.
Creepy treats by Classic Fare Catering will be served throughout the night.
Students looking to escape the haunted house can head to the Reitz showings of “The Purge: Anarchy” and “Monsters University.”
Dressing up in costumes is optional and encouraged, but wearing masks is not allowed.
Olivia Sperry, a UF English junior, said GatorNights is a good way for people who live on campus to get involved with UF events.
“I love Halloween, and this seems like a free version of something like Halloween Horror Nights,” Sperry, 21, said. “It would be a good thing to bring friends to.”
