Junior A.J. Crouch has made progress in every tournament he competed in this year.

At the end of the first day of the Florida Gulf Coast Invitational in Estero, Fla., Crouch finds himself tied for first place after shooting 2-under-par as the Gators sit in second place overall with a combined score of 7-over-par.

Crouch shot a career best 5-under, 67 in the first round, which gave him a three shot lead in the tournament.

Crouch followed up the first round with a 3-over, 75 in the second round.

Freshman Ryan Celano is in sole possession of sixth place after two rounds. Celano is 1-over-par after 36 holes. Fellow freshman Ramsey Touchberry, who is competing as an individual, is in a tie for ninth place at 3-over-par.

As a team, Florida shot 3-under-par in the first round as they paced the field after the first 18 holes. The Gators held a five shot lead over No. 2 Florida State — the only ranked team in the field — but slipped to second after posting a 10-over-par outing in Round 2.

Florida will finish its fall tournament today with 18 more holes at the Old Corkscrew Golf Club.
