With an electric fan at his feet, Charlie Crist addressed his Gators fans in Pugh Hall on Wednesday.
The former Florida governor discussed the importance of early voting and his support for the environment, medical marijuana and women’s rights.
“Florida is one of the most diverse states in the country, and that fundamental fairness is something that we need to fight for,” Crist said.
Students from UF College Democrats passed out stickers that read “Gators for Crist” to people at the event.
Several UF students went to see Crist, including 21-year-old Helen Roldan, who said she is a big supporter of Crist and heard from a classmate that he would be at Pugh Hall. She decided to stop by after class and support him.
“I really enjoy his debates, and I wanted to see him in person, especially if he is going to be our governor again,” the UF political science senior said.
Crist said he plans on restoring cuts made to Bright Futures by Gov. Rick Scott and providing low interest rates to college students with loans.
