The Gators added another weapon for their spread offense.

Former Virginia tight end Jake McGee announced his decision to transfer to Florida for his final season of eligibility via his Twitter account (@JakeOvaTheWorld) on Friday.

“I will be playing my 5th year at The University of Florida. GO Gators!” McGee posted on his account at 2:05 p.m.

McGee brings depth to a Florida team that saw minimal production from the tight end position in 2013. Last season, the Gators had four receptions for 42 yards from the tight end position.

In 2013, McGee led Virginia with 43 receptions — more than all UF receivers except Solomon Patton — for 395 yards and two touchdowns.

In his career with the Cavaliers, the 6-foot-6, 250-pound tight end has 71 receptions for 769 yards and seven scores.
