It was announced Thursday that USF center John Egbunu would transfer to UF.

Florida may have found their replacement for graduating senior Patric Young.

It was announced Thursday afternoon that USF 6-foot-10, 245-pound center John Egbunu would transfer to UF. The transfer comes less than a month after he was granted his release from South Florida in April.

Egbunu had an impressive freshman campaign, setting a school freshman rebounding record with 198. His 6.2 rebounds per game were an American Athletic Conference record as well.

He was selected to the conference’s All-Rookie team, and his 7.4 points per game ranked fourth among freshman within the conference.

His best game as a freshman came in December in a win over No. 18 Memphis, scoring a season-high 20 points and 14 rebounds.

Prior to joining the Bulls’ squad he was a four-star recruit, and ranked seventh overall at his position according to ESPN.com.

There has been no statement made by head coach Billy Donovan or the Florida Men’s Basketball Team at this time.
