UF picked up its sixth commitment for the 2015 recruiting class on Thursday afternoon when defensive back Marcus Lewis, out of Gonzaga High, verbally committed to Florida, as first reported by Rivals.com.
Lewis’ high school is located in Washington D.C. — less than four miles away from defensive back early enrollee Jalen Tabor’s alma mater, Friendship Collegiate Academy. Lewis, in an interview with Rivals.com, stated that his relationship with Tabor did in fact influence his decision.
Lewis helped Gonzaga win 14 games in his last two seasons and is currently listed as the No. 8 cornerback in the nation.
He is the second defensive back in UF's 2015 class, along with Trinity Christian’s Deontai Williams, who committed back in January.
