UF aiming to come back from poor season in final tournament

The Gators have spent all but one of their three-round tournaments lingering around ninth or 10th place on the leaderboard.

Florida will have a chance to end the regular season on a high note when the team tees off this morning at the Bryan National Collegiate co-hosted by UNC Greensboro and Wake Forest in Greensboro, N.C.

Florida takes on six other top-25 teams and two Southeastern Conference opponents at the Bryan Park Golf and Enrichment Center Champions Course.

This is a golf course that Glaser called “challenging but fair” in a release.

“We really don’t know what the weather will be like or what the course will be like,” Glaser said. “We have to mentally prepare for that.”

The Gators took fifth last year with a score of 887(+23).

“It will be a good test of the work we have been doing,” Glaser said. “The goal is to trust it this week and be in the mix come Sunday.”

Following her season-best performance and top-five place in the leaderboard at the 2014 Gator Invite, junior Camilla Hedberg leads the Gator lineup this morning.

Hedberg is the only Florida player who has played the Greensboro greens in the past.

Freshman Maria Torres made the lineup with a 73.2 stroke average and a top-15 SEC ranking despite struggling in her first home tournament. Fellow freshman Karolina Vlckova and junior Sarah Schober, who has a team-best stroke average of just under 73, will also play for Florida.

Redshirt sophomore Katie Mitchell also made the lineup, successfully competing in every single tournament during the 2014 season.

Elcin Ulu, the only senior on the team, did not make the lineup for what would have been her final regular season tournament as a Gator.

“This is a great event to close out the regular season,” Glaser said. “The team is excited.”
