Season three, episode 17 of New Girl, titled “Sister II,” was more about Abby and how the apartment dynamic has changed as a result.
Abby, played by actress Linda Cardellini, will be on the show for a while. We met her last week when Jess had to pick her up from jail.
Something was definitely up when the show’s creator, Liz Meriwether, tweeted out the following:
New Girl is on at 9pm! Schmidt begins a new relationship and we get as close to showing a handjob on broadcast TV as we legally can. Sorry.

The show starts and ends with Abby. Jess doesn’t want Abby to stay at the loft, so she has Nick distract her while Jess goes apartment hunting. Nick, already uncomfortable, tells Jess a fundamental rule of manipulation (according to Nick, at least): “You can’t lie to a liar.” This will prove itself true by the end.
Winston is avoiding checking his test scores to become a Los Angeles Police officer, so he hires Coach to be his, well, coach.
But Coach just wants to score.
Puns aside, Coach checks Winston’s test scores only to find out he’s failed. We thought that was it for Winston, but he keeps going and ends up bombing a job interview — which leads to Coach telling him that he’s hit rock-bottom. I mean, he didn’t think to check the back of his job application for more questions.
“There’s a back?” — Winston, you’re perfect. Keep doing you. It seems like Coach’s pep talk at the police station could work.
Humping, I mean, climbing, onto the hood of a car at an antique car museum, falling knives in the apartment and sex involving Schmidt, an apple, melting chocolate and a table follow to eventually bring us to dinner.
Jess is weirded out that Schmidt is at dinner, Nick knows why, and Abby is about to tell everyone — including Schmidt — that she’s moving in with him. The “dinner table special” is a hand job, and Abby gives one to Schmidt. At dinner. Definitely the opposite of what Jess wants.
We’ll see what next week holds.
New Girl airs at 9 p.m. Tuesdays on Fox.
