Voting for Student Government elections begins today and will continue tomorrow from 8:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. This is the students’ chance to voice their opinions on what direction they want their Student Government to take and how they want to be represented on this campus.

I urge all students to educate themselves on the platforms that each party on campus is presenting. Talk to the candidates who correspond to your class standing, ask them about what they hope to achieve if they are elected, and most importantly, tell them what you want to see happen.

Elections are an opportunity for students to have a discussion on what they want, and more importantly, an opportunity to continue these conversations once elections are over because Student Government is a yearlong conversation between students and their elected representatives.

Every vote today and tomorrow counts. Elections all over have been decided by slim margins and even in some cases by one vote — your vote could be the one.

So when you are walking across campus and a party representative asks, “Have you voted today?” proudly display your “I voted” sticker because you have exercised your democratic right to vote as a student at the University of Florida.

Together for tomorrow.
