UF’s Levin College of Law has been selected to host the 33rd Federalist Society National Student Symposium. It’ll be the first time a student chapter outside of the top 15 law schools has hosted this event.
The Symposium is expected to attract students and alumni and help them connect and discuss topics about controversies in security and freedom, according to a press release.
Devon Westhill, the senior local chapter president and chairman of the Symposium Executive Committee, said it is important for students to get involved and become educated on pressing issues.
“To understand complex and important issues such as the ones that we will discuss and debate at the symposium regarding security, freedom, and privacy is both interesting and vital for tomorrow’s leaders,” he wrote in an email.
The Symposium will take place March 7 through March 8 in the Reitz Union. Tickets are $10 for students and $25 for non-students.
“It’s also a great opportunity to meet other law students and hear their perspective,” said Jillian Pratt, a 22-year-old first-year law student.
