UF defensive back target Tyrek Cole will announce his oral commitment Thursday night at 8.
Cole is a four-star recruit out of Miramar High and is the eighth-ranked defensive back in the Class of 2015. Cole recorded 22 pass break-ups during his junior season.
On Monday, Cole was given the honor of being placed on the Florida All-State Team, which is divided by class and selected by newspaper reporters and editors throughout Florida. Cole made the class 8A team.
West Virginia coach Dana Holgorsen announced Wednesday morning that Damon Cogdell, Cole’s head coach at Miramar, would be joining the defensive staff as an assistant coach. With the announcement, it is likely that Cole would follow his coach to Morgantown, W.Va.
Cole confirmed Wednesday afternoon via his Twitter account (@Cole_island) that he would announce his oral commitment Thursday evening, posting: “It’s going to be at 8p.m.”
Cole would provide sound depth for the Gators’ defensive backs corps, which lost Jaylen Watkins to graduation, and cornerbacks Loucheiz Purifoy and Marcus Roberson to the NFL Draft following the 2013 season.
Tyrek Cole announced over Twitter when he would verbally commit to a school.
