Kourtney Keegan and Sofie Oyen struggled on the final day of the 2014 Freeman Memorial Tennis Championships at the Fertitta Tennis Complex in Las Vegas.

After defeating the top ranked pair on Saturday, Keegan and Oyen fell in their doubles semifinals match. They were defeated by Southern California’s 3rd-seeded tandem Zoe Scandalis and Giuliana Olmos in a close 7-5 decision. On the non-tournament singles court, Oyen lost to No. 45 Ester Goldfeld of Duke (6-2, 6-0). And Keegan dropped a nail-bitter 6-2, 5-7, 1-0 (10-7) match to USC’s Scandalis.

The Gators only win today was through Olivia Janowicz, who won her match against No. 41 Taylor Davidson of Stanford (6-4, 6-4). Next up for Florida is the ITA Kickoff where it will host Louisville, Harvard, and Missouri.

The Gators will kick off the tournament facing the Cardinals on Saturday at 10 a.m. The consolation matches will be on Sunday at 9 a.m., and the championship match will be at 10 a.m.

For the men on the final day at the Illini Open in Fort Myers, Fla., the Gators success continued. Maxx Lipman and Spencer Newman both completed the weekend undefeated on the singles court. Gordon Watson also picked up a singles win on the final day.

On the doubles court, both duos picked up wins, including Mike Alford and Stephane Piro picking up their third of the weekend.

“We had another productive weekend. I can see this group is enjoying the competition and are taking pride in the work they are doing,” coach Bryan Shelton said.

Florida begins its season on Wednesday at home against UNF. The match is set to begin at 3 p.m.

“We can't wait to play at home Wednesday against UNF,” Shelton said.
