Senior year of college is one of our happiest and saddest years. It’s the end of something great, and the start of a completely different life. We are leaving our comfort zone from years of studying to years of working long hours.

We are growing up. The anticipation of what is yet to come, combined with the sadness that life will no longer be the same, is an emotion-filled year that comes before we enter the next chapter of our lives.

It was the day before registration and I looked at my degree audit. There were many green checks as I scrolled down, and it hit me--I was only one semester away from graduating.

There were only a few red X’s, the remaining classes I anticipated. But there was one more requirement I needed than I thought.

Being a double major, I always have been keen on creating my class schedule. I’ve always tried keeping Fridays off, balancing my workload with classes that complement each other and not stressing too much.

But with all this chaos, somehow I missed that I needed one more class than I thought. When I came to the realization this past week, I was thrown off.

I wasn’t planning to stay for the summer, and I am determined to graduate in Spring 2014. No summer and no exceptions.

I have to take two advertising courses and one business course. On top of that, two courses of upper-level business electives. My final semester at UF is a full 18-credit schedule. Just great.

This is far from idea, but I am glad I saw this now and I am able to graduate on time, with just a little bit more effort.

I am determined to not let this ruin my final days at UF. I am determined to have a three-day weekend, no class Fridays. I am determined to never have an excuse of “I’m studying” as an excuse to turn down a socializing opportunity.

My mantra for senior year is: Work hard. Play harder.
