Award-winning Fall Harvest Festival returns to Micanopy for 39th year

Saturday and Sunday will bring a vibrant collection of arts, crafts and food to Micanopy.

At the 39th Annual Fall Harvest Festival, about 20 minutes southeast of Gainesville, the main street that runs through Micanopy will overflow with more than 250 vendors, entertainers and an auction.

Janis Slean, a festival committee member, said food, jewelry, books, clothing and pottery will be available for sale in the booths, and two stages will showcase various live entertainment acts.

The event is a community effort, said Tami Dixon, the festival president.

“The committees have worked really hard to get the townspeople and businesses involved,” she said.

The festival will run from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday. Last year, the festival won the Top 20 Festival Award for the Southeastern United States.

The festival will also offer Gator-themed crafts and clothing.

“A lot of people don’t realize the culture of the university that exists here,” Slean said. “To come and walk through our town, students will be able to enjoy the arts and to be a part of the community that we all share.”
