Guest column: I support the Swamp Party: Here’s why

Once, I was an uninformed student.

When I came to UF in the Fall of 2011, I had no idea what Student Government did, much less the Senate.

Someone I went to high school with told me to get involved and to join the Students Party.

I thought I was serving the Student Body, but once I became a senator, I realized that — unlike what I was initially led to believe — the differences between the Swamp Party and the Students Party were not ones of integrity or ideals.

The key differences between the Swamp Party and the Students Party were the levels of dedication, hard work and commitment to serving the Student Body.

Halfway through my term, it dawned on me that the Swamp Party was the party of results and the party that had a vision for a better tomorrow.

When I worked to improve bus service on the weekend for my constituents who live south of Archer Road in District D, members of the Swamp Party were the ones who assisted me every step of the way.

Despite the fact that I was a Students Party senator, leaders in the Swamp Party gave me direction, guidance and a helping hand.

In my time as a senator, both as a member of the Students Party in the past and currently as a member of the Swamp Party, I have seen what the Swamp Party is capable of doing.

The Swamp Party candidates are truly the most qualified individuals to represent the 50,000 students of the Gator Nation because the Swamp Party always ensures the students’ needs are met and their voices are heard.

I fully support, endorse and trust in the Swamp Party because the members of the Swamp Party are the most qualified to represent us.

I joined the Swamp Party because it exemplifies and embodies the ideals of UF, and it makes the students a priority.

Today and always, I throw my full support behind the Swamp Party.

I hope all of you do the same.
