Marcus Roberson (5) takes the ball down the field during Florida's 37-26 win against Florida State at Doak Cambell Field in Tallahassee, Fla., on Nov. 24.

The votes are in and six Gators were named to the Coaches’ Preseason All-SEC Teams, which were announced by the Southeastern Conference office on Thursday.

Senior defensive lineman Dominique Easley and junior cornerback Loucheiz Purifoy were named to the first-team defense. Kyle Christy, a junior punter, was named to the first team for specialists.

Junior cornerback Marcus Roberson and redshirt senior offensive lineman Jon Halapio were named to the second-team defense. Junior Ronald Powell, who will line up at both defensive end and the hybrid Buck position for the Gators in 2013, made the third-team defense as a defensive lineman and linebacker.

The six selections tied Florida with LSU, Auburn and Ole Miss for fourth most in the conference. Alabama, the two-time defending national champion, led the league with 16 selections, five of which are on the first team. Georgia had eight players selected, while Tennessee had seven.

Easley and Purifoy were both also named to the SEC Media Days Preseason All-SEC First Teams and several awards watch lists.

When asked on Wednesday, defensive coordinator D.J. Durkin said he expected a strong final season from Easley.

“He plays with an unbelievable motor,” Durkin said. “There’s not a guy that plays harder than him in the entire country.”

Easley finished 2012 with 26 tackles, including 8.5 tackles for a loss. He also added four sacks and a fumble recovery.

Purifoy expects to take snaps at cornerback, wide receiver and as a return man this season. He finished fourth on the team with 51 tackles last season and began working with the UF offense late in the year.

“He can run and go all day,” Durkin said of Purifoy.

There were no notable snubs from the Florida perspective, but Texas A&M quarterback Johnny Manziel could have some beef with the coaches in the SEC.

Manziel won the Heisman Trophy as a redshirt freshman last season after finishing with 5,115 all-purpose yards and 47 touchdowns, but he finds himself on the second-team offense.

Georgia redshirt senior quarterback Aaron Murray, who threw for 3,893 yards and had 39 total touchdowns a year ago, is on the first-team offense.
