Now that summer’s in full swing, make sure your wardrobe is ready for the season too. These trendy pieces will work for months after your tan lines fade, as they can fade seamlessly with what you already have. Here’s some wardrobe essentials to stock up on for this hot season.
Maxi dress:
This trend from years past is still in, so if you haven’t already, invest in one now. They’re the perfect casual beachy dress. Top yours off with some fun earrings or a statement necklace and sandals to spice up the look.
White jean:
These crisp pants are the fashion world’s ode to summertime. They look great with anything. I think a skinny, ankle-cropped pair look best on most figures, but it’s hard to go wrong with a basic bootcut. Find a pair that are all white, without holes or back pocket designs that are distracting. By keeping the bottom simple, wear a fun-colored top and you’re outfit will scream summer.
Summer knit:
Now, the last thing you might want to wear in this heat is a sweater, but trust me on this one. A slouchy, slightly off the shoulder pullover can look great when paired with denim cutoffs. Just choose a lightweight material, and if the sweater is open-knitted, wear a light tank top underneath. It’s the perfect combination to combat the chilly classrooms and steamy weather.
Denim vest:
I think, when worn right, denim vests can be so chic. Try layering it on top of your maxi dress, and tossing on a loose, featherweight scarf and sunnies. Since denim vests can be so structural, make sure whatever you match it with is girly, to keep the look feminine.
Draped trouser:
These pants are perfect for dressing up or dressing down. Think paired with a plain tee for class, or a basic tank and necklace for going out. I love these pants because the print options are endless, and they are oh so comfortable!
Relaxed fit jean:
Store your skinny jeans and try out a pair of relaxed fit jeans. These are definitely on my to-buy list. A loose (but not baggy) pair can look really flattering when matched with a tank and pretty sandals. Just choose a length that reaches almost to your ankles, so it doesn’t look like the material is swallowing you. The key is a slim fit throughout the leg.
White sneakers:
A simple pair of white kicks will always be “in”, no matter what year. Which is great, since there are so many options from Keds to Converse, but challenging when you try to keep them clean. However, these sneakers will work seamlessly with your wardrobe and are the perfect shoes for getting around campus.
