Three days after landing his first 2015 commit, Will Muschamp missed out on a four-star talent.

Sherrod Pittman, a 6-foot-1, 215-pound outside linebacker out of Jacksonville First Coast High verbally committed to South Carolina over Florida during a local television appearance on CBS47 and FOX30 at 6:20 p.m. on Monday.

Pittman announced via his Twitter account (@ROLLINGHARD_9) on Sunday that he had narrowed down his choices to UF and South Carolina.

ESPN ranks Pittman as the 162nd best player in the Class of 2015 and the 22nd best recruit in the state.

According to MaxPreps.com, Pittman tallied 7.4 tackles per game during his sophomore campaign in 2012. He also forced three fumbles and recorded three sacks as the Buccaneers went 10-1.

If Pittman chose Florida, he would have teamed up with former First Coast teammate and fellow linebacker Daniel McMillian, who will begin his first season with the Gators this year.

Despite missing out on Pittman, UF received a commitment on Friday from four-star wide receiver Da’Vante Phillips after Florida’s annual Friday Night Lights camp at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium. Phillips, a 6-foot-1, 189-pound Miami native, is ranked 11th in the Class of 2015 by ESPN.

The Gators currently have 12 verbal commits for the Class of 2014 and two for 2016.
