Should you have a long-distance relationship?

Let’s be real—relationships can either ruin your life (or rather, that’s what it feels like) or turn out to be the one of the best decisions you ever make.

The factor of the unknown causes many to hesitate from going all in; it’s easier for us to stay safe than rather risk wasting time, money and that emotion called love.

So the issue of dating someone long distance is a hard decision to make He or she may be different from the rest and is willing to go all in, but you’re not sure because there’s so much to lose.

There are a couple of factors to consider when you are about to go all in or completely shut the relationship down before it even begins: the seriousness of the relationship, how long you both will be apart and how much you both really trust each other.

Dating, nowadays, is usually not taken very seriously. So when you are about to commit to a person, make sure your significant other is on the same page as you. Maintaining a relationship is not a walk in the park—especially a long distance one. If you aren’t ready to make the commitment, then a long-distance relationship is definitely not the choice for you.

How long you both are apart from each other always plays a vital role in your decision to go for it. If it’s only a few months, then that makes the situation way easier. But if it’s six months or more, you may need to reevaluate whether you both should actually be together. It’s important for couples to spend time together—that’s just how relationships work. We’re supposed to be with our loved one physically and emotionally. If you lack one of those, then the other will crumble to pieces.

Trust is vital. Without it, the relationship will fail. Trusting is an arduous thing to do, but it’s possible.  If you really love one another, then there is no cause for jealousy or temptation. There will always be obstacles and temptations thrown in your path. But making the right decision each time is what will keep you both together.

Having a long-distance relationship isn’t the most desired option, but if you weigh the options and trust the other person, then it can work. Love may be blind, but it has a way of binding two people together.
