Summer is the season when the hot sun that beats on your skin ignites a lust for trouble. Scientists have no idea why it happens, but we are all just begging to make mistakes that are outrageously fun but have woeful consequences.
Anything you do this summer wont be as bad as the rollercoaster ride Lindsay Lohan has been through in the past seven years. Go ahead and mow lawns, dive in the "no diving zone" at the public pool and listen to Kid Cudi with the windows down. Go ahead with your bad self! But keep in mind the lessons from these mistakes Lindsay Lohan has already made in order to ensure your summer is safe and sexy.
In 2007, Lohan filmed a movie titled "Georgia Rule." During filming, she was hospitalized because “she was overheated and dehydrated.” Dehydration can happen to anyone, especially in the rigorous activities of the summer months. You don’t want to be hospitalized for something that can easily be prevented by drinking water. Unnecessary issues like these can prevent you from giving your all at work, if you have a job, and pin you with the “irresponsible and unprofessional” label (David G. Robinson, "Georgia Rule" studio executive).
Like many of the flowers in the garden that is Hollywood, Lohan entered rehab to work on her issues. In 2007, she rehabilitated for 30 days in February. Clearly that wasn’t enough because she checked into a different rehab in May for 45 days and later in August for three months. When something doesn’t work the first time, try again. If you insist on something you really want, after a while you’ll get it. Invest yourself in it and don’t half ass it for short periods of time. For Lohan, a month or so in rehab was not enough because she had to dedicate herself solely to her recovery in order to achieve her goal.
Having an addictive personality is not something a person chooses, it just happens. In the past, Lohan has had to deal with drug, mostly cocaine, and alcohol addictions. These have resulted in multiple DUIs and serious repercussions in her career and personal life. No one respectable wants to work with her these days. You can’t choose to have an addiction but you can choose what you are addicted to. Grow a fondness for learning and activity. Have a craving for socializing with people who have a positive influence on you. Be attached to the good life. But mostly, have an addiction to positive energy.
If you happen to find yourself between a rock and a hard place this summer, don’t fall into worse situations. After a tumultuous year in 2007, Lohan began dating DJ Samantha Ronson. She partied behind the DJ booth with Ronson, stayed up until the wee hours of the morning and then there were the public disputes. Instead of focusing on her career, Lohan was falling deeper into the abyss of failure. If you’re having a hard time, try to get out of it by enlisting help from those who influence you positively. Don’t turn to the people who thrive in the same atmosphere that got you in trouble in the first place.
In the October 2010 issue of Vanity Fair, Lohan said, “I know that I’m a damn good actress.” We all know she’s a good actress. Hello, "Mean Girls." But at the time, and still today, Lohan hasn’t shown that she is the responsible, prepared actress that producers want. If you know you’re good at something, be good at it. Don’t just say you’re good, or do things that will deliberately impede you from being good. Don’t fail sobriety tests when you’re already on probation, and don’t go to Cannes when you know you have a court date. Do what you say you’re so good at, and people will see it.
Before the years of cocaine, clubs and drunk driving, Linds was on a roll (and not the bad kind). She was Cady Heron for crying out loud! Lindsay’s last lesson for this summer is to have a little fun because haters are going to hate.
